Manjistha-dyed yarn uses the roots of the Rubia cordifolia plant (Indian madder) to create natural brick-red shades. Women artisans at Badanavalu Khadi Sangha hand-spin our cotton yarn using ambara charaka. We then dye the yarn at our Melukote natural dyeing unit using traditional methods, wash it thoroughly, and shade-dry it to preserve its natural colour depth.
Available Counts
1) 33 counts Khadi Yarn: 33 hanks per kilo (each hank is 1000 meters). 1 kilogram yields approximately 5.5 meters of Khadi fabric, ideal for clothing or soft furnishings.
2) 55 counts Khadi Yarn: 55 hanks per kilo (each hank is 1000 meters). 1 kilogram yields approximately 10.5 meters of fabric, ideal for sarees and dupattas.
Shipping: We dye the yarn fresh after we receive your order. Please allow up to 7 working days for dispatch. If there’s unexpected rain, the process may take a little longer. While we let nature take its time, we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
Care: To keep your naturally dyed yarn safe, store it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. An airtight container works perfectly to keep its colours and texture fresh.
Note: We custom-dye each yarn hank in small batches after you place your order. Since it’s made exclusively for you, we cannot accept returns or exchanges. For customised orders, we process them once we receive full payment in advance.
