FAQs
FAQs About Khadi and Natural Dyeing
What is Khadi?
Khadi is a hand-spun yarn and hand-woven fabric. It can be made from cotton, wool, silk, or a blend of these.
Where is your yarn and fabric made?
The yarn comes from Badanvalu Khadi Kendra, and the fabric is woven in Melkote by the artisan members of Janapada Collective.
How long does it take to make?
Spinning 30 hanks takes a day using hand-charkhas. Weaving a meter takes about 45 minutes.
What dyes do you use?
Only natural, plant-based dyes. No chemicals at all.
Why are the colours muted?
Natural dyes offer a limited palette of earthy shades, including red, brown, blue, black, yellow, and white. We choose honesty and safety over synthetic brightness.
Is the fabric washed and pre-shrunk?
Yes, every fabric is washed and pre-shrunk. You might still notice up to 3% shrinkage.
How should I wash it?
We recommend gentle hand wash in cold water with mild or organic soap. Dry in the shade. You can machine wash it, but hand washing will prolong its lifespan.
Can I dry clean?
It’s not necessary unless mentioned.
Is your cotton organic?
Not yet. We currently use regular cotton provided by KVIC.
Are you certified by KVIC?
Yes. We are recognised by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, but we don’t take any financial aid.
FAQs About Ordering and Delivery
I didn’t get an order confirmation. What should I do?
Check your spam or promotions folder first. Still missing? Please email us right away, and we’ll sort it out.
Can I change my address or contact details after placing an order?
Yes, if the order hasn’t been shipped. Email us as soon as possible with the subject line: CHANGE IN ADDRESS.
Do you offer Cash on Delivery (COD)?
No. We accept cards, UPI, NEFT, and bank transfers. Need a little time to transfer? Let us know — we’re happy to hold the product for you for a short while.
FAQs About Shipping and Returns
Do you offer free shipping?
We charge a flat ₹150 per order in India, regardless of size. For international orders, we charge actual shipping rates as per India Post.
How long will it take to get my order?
Orders placed before 12 noon ship the same day. Most parcels arrive within 2–4 working days in India and 10–14 days overseas.
Why no free shipping?
We believe in honest pricing. Rather than inflating the product price to hide shipping costs, we display them upfront.
What is your return or cancellation policy?
Once an order is placed and processed, it can’t be cancelled. We’re a small team and make each product with care, so we hope you understand.
FAQs About Bulk Orders and Custom Requests
Do you accept bulk or customised orders?
Yes, with minimum quantity is 100 meters.
Can I buy your products for resale or feature them on my store?
We don’t work on a consignment model. If you’d like to purchase for resale, please email us with your specific needs. Our pricing is already lean, so B2B discounts are modest.
FAQs About Pricing and Payment
Why are your products expensive?
Each product is crafted with human effort, from spinning yarn to cold-pressing oil. Over a dozen people are part of every process. We price with care to support fair livelihoods while staying accessible.
Which couriers do you use?
India Post — reliable and surprisingly efficient, even to remote areas.
Do I have to pay customs for international orders?
Yes, if your country charges customs duties, you’ll need to bear that cost.
